Coffee House Culture
„This is how we live day in, day out. In a coffee house, that is. From 8 in the morning till 2 late at night, an essential part of Viennese life is happening here. Opinions are formed here, as are truisms and – sometimes – mean falsehoods. This is the place you keep coming back to again and again and for any occasion: because you are bitter or in a brilliant mood, because you are feeling bad or all too good, because you are hungry or too full.
This is the Viennese coffee house: everything to everyone. A location for a romantic rendezvous for beginners in matters of the heart, a club for the not-so-dapper guest, a place of business for the person without their own office, a place to dream for those growing or fading, an abode for the person without a home, and a place of human contact for those without family. And all this, this little, peculiar world, steeped in a soft, warm mocha scent – you see: this is coffee house culture.”
